Today is a rainy day in Knoxville. Tomorrow seems to be a rainy day, too. Is the wet weather making your Monday dark blue? Let’s have some pink color today!
Spring is coming around, and we can see lots of flowers blooming everywhere on campus. Also, the Washington District has the National Cherry Blossom Festival from March 20 to April 14.
We use “cherry blossom” as the keyword in the Social Studio. In addition, consider that the popular cherry blossom scenes are mostly in Japan, and Japanese people are the second large Twitter user group in the world, we also include “Sakura and Japan” and“桜”(cherry blossom in Japanese) to see how people post about the cherry blossom season from both the US and Japan.
During the past week, cherry blossom has been a hot topic on Twitter. There are 3.1 million posts from Japan and 35 thousand posts from the US. Comparing with the topics we investigated in the past, and it is unusual to see that the majority of posts are from the other country rather than from the US.
From the word cloud, we can also see lots of Japanese places that are posted for the cherry blossom, for example, “福岡県” (Fukuoka). Let’s enjoy some beautiful photos from both the US and Japan!
