Freezing temps hit Knoxville
Oct 31 is the Halloween day. However, mother nature has a few tricks up her sleeve on Thursday. A double-wallop of strong to severe storms followed by a drastic drop in temperatures hit Knoxville on Thursday. Heavy storms rolling through East Tennessee felled trees and downed power lines. According to the statistic, due to the Halloween storms, nearly 23,000 Knoxville Utilities Board customers were without power.

So far, the Halloween storm has caused one death. On Oct.31, storms sent a tree into a van, two people inside the vehicle were taken to the hospital. Southbound lanes of North Broadway at Jacksboro Pike was closed for hours. According to today’s report, a 79-year-old man died from his injuries. A female passenger in the van is still in the hospital.
In addition, the heavy storm also affected Zoo Knoxville, which closed early on Thursday.
