The Knoxville Museum of Art (KMA) presents the rich visual legacy of East Tennessee and New Art from the region and beyond. The mission of the museum is to “celebrate the art and artist of East Tennessee, present new art and new ideas, educate and serve a diverse community, enhance Knoxville’s quality of life, and operate ethically, responsibly, and transparently as a public trust.”
Higher Ground: A Century of the Visual Arts in East Tennessee is the first permanent exhibition in KMA. It devoted to East Tennessee’s artistic achievements. Just as Knoxville Museum of Art, its collection focuses increasingly on Southern Appalachian culture and artists from the East Tennessee region. Every month there are different exhibitions on display. The ongoing exhibitions on KMA are Higher Ground: A Century of the Visual Arts in East Tennessee, Currents: Recent Art from East Tennessee and Beyond, Facets of Modern and Contemporary Glass and Cycle of Life: Within the Power of Dreams and the Wonder of Infinity.
The museum has its core permanent installations with a lively schedule of exhibitions. It focuses on the exploration of regional culture and its relation to national and international artistic developments. Moreover, the museum has an ongoing interest in solo museum shows for the new artist.

In addition, the KMA has an educational focus. It provides learning opportunities and group tours. It also provides an environment for students to connect to the culture of the region and offer teachers a chance to enhance the classroom curriculum in art subjects.
According to the data from the social studio, we can find that the most popular words related to this topic are: “art”, “national”, “celebrate” and “enjoy”. As for sentiment, due to the public nature, it is no doubt that almost 96% of people have positive sentiments.
