The Information Integrity Institute
The Information Integrity Institute harnesses the expertise of faculty in order to generate interdisciplinary research designed to enhance our understandings of the underlying mechanisms that shape how the public consume, share, and are influenced by the large amounts of information that they continuously encounter, especially via social media, on a daily basis.
Message from the Director
“We now live in a technology-driven and rapidly evolving media ecosystem in which it is often difficult to decipher the source and accuracy of information. This has led to decreases in institutional trust and public confidence in democratic processes.
“The goal of the institute is to use interdisciplinary research to assist the public in effectively navigating our media ecosystem and identifying credible versus untrustworthy information.”
– Catherine Luther, Professor and Director of the Information Integrity Institute
